Old Students Donates Books, Laboratory Materials To GDSS Fate

Government Day Secondary School Fate, Ilorin, Kwara State has received the benevolence of its old Students’ Association as the first graduands of the school,1988 set donated Exercise Books and Science Laboratory Materials worth million.

Presenting the items to the principal of the school, the Chairman of the Old Students Association, Engineers Jacob Adelowo, said the gesture is to give back to their Alma Marta.

“This event reminds us of the importance of education in Nigeria and the urgent need to equip our schools properly. Education is the key to unlocking the potential of our nation and preparing our young ones for the challenges of the future. It is therefore the responsibility of the government to provide an enabling environment for education in Nigeria.

“Unfortunately, the state of education in Nigeria leaves much to be desired. Many schools lack basic facilities, such as laboratories, libraries, and classrooms. This has resulted in a substandard education system that fails to adequately prepare our youth for the challenges of the 21st century.

“It is therefore imperative that we all work together to improve the state of education in Nigeria. As alumni of Government Day Secondary School Fate Ilorin, we have a unique opportunity and responsibility to give back to our alma mater. We must be committed to assisting the school in any way we can, whether through donations or by providing mentorship and guidance to current students.”

The Alumni chairman, however, expresses gratitude to the 1988 set for their generous donation and urge all alumni to join in efforts to improve the state of education in Nigeria to create a brighter future for younger ones.

Reacting to the gesture, the Principal of the School, Mrs. Badiru Oluwatoyin Dunni, expressed gratitude to the 1988 graduands of the school said their continuous support to the school is much appreciated.

“We appreciate you for remembering your Alma Martal, God would continuously enlarge your coast and prosper you all. It’s on record that your set had before now renovated a building in the school and here you are for another gesture and I know by the grace of God, you will come back to do more.

“You have seen the situation in the school, we want a renovation of buildings, borehole water, and toilet facilities, I believe you have seen a lot you can do to assist our children. I want to advise you to liaise with other sets, to enable you to do more mega projects. God would continuously bless you and use your set as a pointer to other sets. your generation and family would not know lack, whatsoever you lay your hands upon will prosper.”
