Kwara State government has restated its commitment to ensure it heeds to the Federal Government directive to reclaim all the setback around offices and public spaces to curb insecurity in the state and country in extension.
This was disclosed by the Executive Chairman of the State Geographic Information Service (KWGIS) ESV. Abdulkareem Babatunde Sulyman, on Monday during an inter-ministerial press briefing held at conference hall of the ministry of finance in Ilorin, the state capital.
ESV. Sulyman, who lauded the foresightedness of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq led government said his agency has made a significant improvement in area of land administration and urban renewal plans of the present All Progressives Congress (APC) led administration.
“KWGIS has processed a total number of 156 in the second quarter, and 178 in the last quarter of 2024, making a total of 334 certificates of occupancy duly processed to the final stage and ready for collection.
“Agency was able to achieve this feat as a result of the transition to automation system embarked upon by the present administration of Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq in ensuring proper administration and management of land and building matters in the State.
“The success of this Agency is tied to the visionary leadership of Governor AbdulRazaq in making sure that developmental activities in the State are in line with the State Master plan in order to promote growth and rapid development.
“The ongoing reclamation exercise of government setbacks around public offices and institutions in the State is purely a Federal Government directive to curb insecurity in the country, while the reclamation of setbacks along major roads is done by the State government, adding that the exercise would cut across all the sixteen Local Government Areas of the State.”
ESV. Sulyman further disclosed that in the last three months, Governor AbdulRazaq has acquired 3000 hectares of land at Malete, in Moro Local Government Area of the State for livestock production, while the payment of compensation has reached 70% completion.
Similarly, he said another 2000 hectares of Lands were acquired for the industrial park along Ogbomosho road, which the compensation, would be paid in due course.
He added that preliminary activities had been concluded on the 19000 hectares of land earmarked for the Ilorin SmartCity project.
