The Senate today resolved to send a powerful delegation to the United Kingdom, UK over the current predicament of the former Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu and his wife, Beatrice on alleged organ harvesting in the country.
The Ekweremadus are currently being detained in the United Kingdom.
The Senate President, Dr. Ahmad Lawan announced the decision after senators were briefed behind closed doors on the matter by the Nigeria’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Ambassador Sarafadeen Ishola.
Lawan further disclosed that the delegation, which would comprise of members of the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs led by its chairman, Senator Adamu Bulkachuwa (APC Bauchi North), would leave Nigeria within the next 48 hours.


While commending the defence lawyers to the Ekweremadus for their efforts to get them released from detention, the Senate President assured the family that the National Assembly as an institution would ensure they get justice.
