Commissioner for Education in Osun state, Hon Depo Ijiwole has tasked old students of public schools in the state, to assist the government in the area of infrastructure development.
Hon Ijiwole said this recently at St Peters Anglican Primary School Iremo life in Ife Central local government area of Osun state during the commissioning of the multimillion naira bungalow in the school that was refurbished to taste by the 1976&77 Set of the school under Mr Oluwole Oyegunle led executive.
“Your combined sets have done incredibly well by supporting the government to rehabilitate this hitherto dilapidated structure to taste. You could see that the government is already rehabilitating two other bungalows here, I want other old students in public schools to please rally round the government because we can’t do it alone.
“I commend those of you behind this dream that has come into reality and I particularly hail Mr Oluwole Oyegunle led executive who has made this a reality.
“Like Oliver Twist, the government is expecting more support from you people.
“Recently, someone single-handedly constructed three buildings in his Alma mata, and it drew our governor and other top government officials to that school during commissioning.
“So, we are not underestimating the power of old students. You people can do more to support the government,” he said.
The President of the 1976/77 Sets of St Peters Iremo, Mr Oluwole Oyegunle in his response commended the commissioner and the government for their support for the school, particularly the ongoing rehabilitation of two other buildings in the school.

“These facilities are not safe here unless they are secured. We often have stories of touts and hoodlums coming here to mess up this place and destroy the facilities. We learnt they smoke Indian hemp here and often create nuisance here .We are appealing to the government to assist us to fence this school so that our facilities here can be secured.
“For us ,we will continue look for ingenious ways to give back to our Alma mata so that life can be a lot easier for the present crops of pupils in the school and they can be a lot better than us in the nearest future.”he said.
