Chairman of the Kwara State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Rt. Hon. Babatunde Mohammed has criticized Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq for not having any development projects to commission as part of his third anniversary.
Mohammed in a press statement released in Ilorin noted that he and other residents of the state were surprised that on the third anniversary of the Abdulrasaq administration on May 29 as well as on Democracy Day marked on June 12, the Governor only read an “uninspiring speech” instead of commissioning or breaking new grounds for new projects that have been executed by his administration.
“Since June 12 is Democracy Day, the people of Kwara State expected that the administration will roll out dividends of democracy by unfolding new projects and social services which will enhance the socio-economic development of the state and improve the standard of living of the people.
“It was a surprise that all the Governor did was to read a poorly crafted and badly delivered, uninspiring speech which holds nothing for the people. This is a disappointment to the people of this great state given the numerous promises made by the All Progressives Congress (APC) administration when it was campaigning before the 2019 elections.
“Where are the jobs Governor Abdulrazaq promised the people? Where are the infrastructure projects he promised? Where is the good governance that he promised? Where is the increased salary and improved working conditions for the civil servants and other public sector workers he promised? Where are the better social services that he talked about? Empty promises and no creative thinking.
“The Abdulrazaq administration has failed on all fronts to deliver on these promises because he is insincere from the beginning. He and the entire team he brought together are ill-prepared for the rigours of governance. They only hood-winked the people with empty propaganda. Now, when they were confronted with the reality of governance and the demands of the office, they failed. This is the reason why he keeps on changing personnel and taking decisions on mere whims and instincts. No proper planning. No rigorous interrogation of issues.
“His lack of planning has plunged the state into more debts and led to the misuse of the various funds from federal allocation, Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), and development partners. The corruption under this government is unlimited. Yet, the government invests heavily in lies, propaganda, and gimmicks aimed at deceiving people. The heavy investment in deception by the Abdulrazaq administration is so much that one can safely conclude that it is where the money and ideas that should have produced projects are diverted.
“The government of deception and its head, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq should know that the people are wiser. They have seen through the lies. They know what to do. They are waiting patiently for the next round of elections and they will give their right verdict. It is actually why this government cannot conduct local government elections in the last three years. The day of reckoning is coming”, Mohammed stated.
