The Nigeria Police Force, Kwara State Command has paraded suspects arrested for various crimes such as kidnapping, murder, armed robbery, cultism, and vandalism.
Parading the suspects at force headquarters in Ilorin on Friday, Commissioner of Police, Victor Olaiya said the criminals, who had been terrorizing some parts of the state in recent times, were arrested between May and July 2024.
The police boss revealed that items recovered from the suspects included two cut-to-size locally made axes, one battle axe, five expended cartridges, one live 9mm R&B regular ammunition, two expended ammunition, one unregistered ash-colored Toyota Camry car, one unregistered dark green Honda Accord car, one Beretta pistol, various criminal charms, transformer armor cable, a saw blade, a fabricated gun, and one Bajaj motorcycle.
In a case of CRIMINAL CONSPIRACY, CAUSING GRIEVOUS HURT, CULPABLE HOMICIDE, ARMED ROBBERY, ILLEGAL POSSESSION OF FIREARMS, AND BEING MEMBERS OF A SECRET CULT, three suspects identified as:

were arrested on May 30, 2024, at about 2:00 AM for a violent attack at Insomnia Night Club in the Tanke area of Ilorin.
“During this incident, two young men, Useni Usman ‘Male,’ 22 years, and Suleiman Garba ‘Male,’ 25 years, both residents of the Oke-Odo area in Ilorin, were brutally murdered by individuals suspected to be cultists.
“Upon receiving this information, the command promptly deployed an Anti-Cultism Tactical Team to the scene for an on-the-spot assessment. Immediate and thorough investigations were launched to uncover the details and apprehend those responsible for this heinous crime.

“The relentless efforts of our officers led to the arrest of the three suspects.
These individuals were apprehended at their criminal hideout located at Tipper Garage, Oyun area, Ilorin.
“During interrogation, the suspects confessed to being members of the dreaded Eiye Secret Cult Confraternity, with their initiation dating back between 2005 and 2020.
“They admitted their involvement in the murder of Useni Usman and Suleiman Garba at Insomnia Night Club on the night of May 30, 2024.
“They further disclosed that they were accompanied by three other individuals: Oluwanishola Yunus Olayinka, aka Yinka Bullet or Ola Fund; Sodia Ajibola, aka JB; and Biola, aka B Red, who are currently at large.
Based on the confessions of the arrested suspects, we conducted searches at various criminal hideouts and recovered several exhibits relevant to the case. The investigation is ongoing, with a focus on apprehending the remaining suspects: Oluwanishola Yunus Olayinka, Sodia Ajibola, and Biola. We are determined to bring all members of this criminal gang to justice.

FACTS: The Kwara State Police Command has successfully thwarted an attempted initiation ceremony by a suspected cult group known as ‘Aiye’ in the Agbo-Oba area. The operation took place on July 14, 2024, at approximately 06:30 hours, following a tip-off received.
Acting on credible information, the Kwara State Command swiftly mobilized detectives and patrol teams to the scene.
The coordinated efforts of our detectives, in collaboration with Community Policing Volunteers, successfully frustrated the nefarious plans of the cult group.
Five suspects were apprehended at the scene. The suspects and the recovered exhibits have been handed over to the Anti-Cultism Section for further investigation. This successful operation highlights the importance of community policing and the vital role that residents play in aiding law enforcement efforts.

A CASE OF CONSPIRACY TO COMMIT KIDNAPPING AND KIDNAPPING

FACTS: On August 6, 2024, at about 14:00 hours, the Divisional Headquarters in Babanla received credible intelligence regarding the presence of a notorious group of kidnappers in the Babanla environs. Upon receiving this information, security operatives, in coordination with local vigilante groups, conducted a swift and coordinated operation in the area.
This led to the successful apprehension of four suspects: Babuga Usman, Yunusa Yakubu, Sani Usman, and Abdullahi Bello.
During the investigation carried out by the Anti-Kidnapping Squad, all four suspects confessed to being members of a kidnapping syndicate. They admitted to participating in multiple kidnapping activities in the Lata area via Patigi, the Omu-Aran area, and the Akuma area along the Egbe axis. The suspects also identified one Kachalla (alias “Dan-Gaskiya”) and another individual known as Gramazol as their leaders. They further disclosed that the AK-47 rifle used in their operations belongs to their leader, Kachalla.
“Investigation is ongoing, with efforts focused on apprehending the ringleaders and securing additional evidence.”

FACTS: At about 05:04 hours, a resident of Oja-Iya community raised an alarm upon discovering that thieves had invaded the community’s IBEDC transformer and were in the process of cutting the armored cable.
In a swift response, members of the community mobilized and apprehended the suspect, identified as Idris Hussain, a male resident of the Ita Amadu area in Ilorin. Upon his apprehension, the community recovered the already cut transformer armor cable and a saw blade from the suspect.
During the preliminary investigation, the suspect, Idris Hussain, confessed to criminally trespassing into the Oja-Iya community transformer yard and cutting the transformer cable using the saw blade.

On July 14, 2024, at approximately 13:00 hours, the Kwara State Police Command received credible information regarding the presence of a group of notorious criminals, who were on our wanted list, sighted along the Marafa via Oke-Oyi area.
Acting promptly on this intelligence, a team led by the Officer in Charge (O/C) of the Anti-Kidnapping Squad in Ilorin was dispatched to the area. During the operation, one fabricated gun was recovered from the suspects.

FACT: On July 16, 2024, at about 01:00 hours, an individual reported an incident at the A Divisional Police Headquarters.
The complainant, a commercial motorcyclist, recounted the events that occurred the previous evening on July 15, 2024, at about 21:00 hours.
Abdulrasaq Yakub, while operating his Bajaj motorcycle along Unity Road, Ilorin, conveyed a passenger who requested to be taken to Irewolede Junction. Upon arriving at the destination, the passenger, later identified as Wasiu Ibrahim, persuaded the complainant (Yakub) to continue to another location. When they arrived at this secondary location, the complainant was ambushed by another motorcyclist and a second suspect, Idowu Jamiu, who was armed with an iron rod.
In a fortunate turn of events, the complainant managed to escape the ambush, taking the ignition key of his motorcycle with him. He immediately alerted the local community, whose swift response led to the successful apprehension of the suspects, Wasiu Ibrahim and Idowu Jamiu. The stolen Bajaj motorcycle was also recovered during this operation.
The case is currently under thorough investigation. We are working diligently to ensure that all aspects of the incident are examined. The suspects will be charged in court accordingly.
