Following a protest by residents on kwara over the deadline of the Naira swap, which grounded commercial activities in some areas of Ilorin, the state capital, on Wednesday, the Governorship Candidate of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) in Kwara state, Waziri Yakubu Gobir, in the company of his running mate, Hon. Bolujoko George had visited the Kwara State Police Headquarters to pay a solidarity visit to the Commissioner of Police.
Gobir, fondly referred to as Aláànú Mẹ̀kúnnù on Thursday afternoon, extolled the Police for safeguarding the residents of Kwara and for spurring into action before yesterday’s fracas degenerated.
“We are here to offer our solidarity over what happened yesterday. It was a tense situation and we know it is a difficult time for Nigerians and security personnel”. Gobir also encouraged the Police to continue towing the path of professionalism the command is known for.
Waziri urged Nigerians to be calm and law-abiding during this challenging time the APC-led administration has plunged the country into with her ‘political CBN monetary policies’.
In response, the Kwara State Commissioner of Police CP Paul Odama appreciated Gobir for reaching out and showing concern for the police command. He commended the YPP Governorship Candidate’s peaceful conduct through his campaign tour in the State.
The CP further said, “Right from my inception into the office in the State, I have promised a level playing ground for all Kwarans irrespective of their political party. Therefore, I am happy that all the political parties have conducted themselves peacefully.”
