The Provost of the College of Nursing, Ilorin, Kwara state Mallam Imam Abubakar Ayinla as charge the new matriculating students of the college to be good ambassadors of the college at all times.
Speaking at the matriculation ceremony held on Wednesday 1st of September, the Provost assured the students of an enabling environment for teaching, learning and research work, that the lecturers/teachers will go extra-mile to teach and impact useful knowledge to them.
He warned that the management of the College frowned at examination malpractices and other social vices, emphasizing that students should conduct themselves in a peaceful manner and be their brothers’ keepers.
Speaking in the same manner Honourable Commissioner Ministry of Tertiary Education, Barrister Senior Ibrahim Sulyman (Esq) charged the students to work hard, disciplined and at all times of a good behavior and take their lifelong oath, very seriously and always remember the content of their oath as lives of others entrusted to them.
He admonished them not to keep late nights and do not move alone at night while wishing them a successful completion of their course and carrier thereafter.
In a lecture delivered by Barrister Prince Ayo Fagbemi at the ceremony tagged importance of Ethics in Nursing practice and why? Prince Ayo Fagbemi charged student Nurses to always empathize with their patients and their relations. The first contacts of a patient brought to the hospital are the Nurses,
“The way and manner you received them count a lot. You should receive them warmly to send a signal to them that they are in safer hands as that enough will reassure them that the illness brought to the hospital will be resolved,” Prince Ayo Fagbemi stressed.
Various prices were won, there was capping and stripping of new intakes. Also, there were goodwill messages from nursing gurus, nursing council and the representatives of the chairman governing council of the College, Hajia Falilat Folashade Salami.
