The Speaker, Kwara State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Engr. Yakubu Danladi-Salihu has commended the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps, NSCDC for contributing to the security of lives and property of the citizenry.
The speaker gave the commendation while speaking at the Passing out Parade, POP of members of the vigilante and hunters group who were trained on how to curtail various security threats by the Gwanara Division of the NSCDC in Baruten Local Government Area of the State.
“I wish to commend the Kwara State Command of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps, NSCDC, and the Gwanara Division of the Corps for ensuring the security of lives and property of our people. Since the coming of Chief Superintendent Corps Babawale Ismail Olawale as the Gwanara Division Officer, he has changed the narrative by working hard to give our people and their property maximum security in this district. Part of his efforts and initiatives towards ensuring the security of our people is this training of vigilantes and hunters that we are having the POP today, this is a good concept that should be encouraged by all and replicated by other divisions of the Corps to beef up security”.
“As lawmakers and people’s representatives, we would continue to give our support because security, as they say, is everybody’s business and so the security of lives and property does not rest in the hand of security agencies alone hence the need for all especially stakeholders to partner and play their part towards ensuring the security of our people. I therefore once again commend the NSCDC Gwanara DO for being exemplary and I urge our traditional and community leaders to continue to support our security agents for optimal results”.
The Speaker while also commending the trainees for their endurance and commitment to peaceful coexistence in the community announced cash donation to support them after the ten days of intensive combatant training.
In a remark, the Chief Superintendent Corps Babawale Ismail Olawale, Gwanara Division thanked Engr. Danladi-Salihu for his continuous support to the Corps, recalling how the Rt. Hon. Speaker single-handedly renovated and upgraded the NSCDC outpost in Gwanara to a Divisional Office.
The POP was attended by the Kwara State Commandant of the NSCDC Mohammed Tukur Ibrahim, Traditional and Community leaders, and other stakeholders in the Gwanara District.
