The Ekinrin Adde Students Union has refunded a price gifted to one of the secondary schools under her union to the organizer of the competition, Ijumu students Union.
In a memo signed and made available to the public, the union also disassociated itself from the just concluded competition where the community comprehensive college was awarded a price of N40,000.
Part of the memo reads “We refer your union (ISU) to the well circulated press release of EASU signed and dated 31/01/2022 in which we as a body decided to disassociate ourselves from all activities of the NAOS and ISU as a body at all levels.
“This decision was unanimously taken by Caretaker Committee after wide consultations with the Traditional Council and the stakeholders following the unfortunate incident that took place at the Miss Okun and Miss Ijumu beauty Peagent of December 2021.
“The Union (EASU) was taken aback with a recent Facebook Post of a debate and Quiz Competition in which our own Community Comprehensive College Ekinrin-Adde was said to have won and was presented with a cash gift of N40,000 and another N2,000 to another of EASU Student.
“Please be informed that EASU will resist every attempt by anybody to drag any of our branches into the activities of the ISU during the pendency of our voluntary withdrawal from your activities.
“Any attempt to denigrate the reputation of our community and make mockery of the collective decision of our union will be resisted by all means.
Consequently, we therefore state as follows:
“a. That the ISU has furnished us (EASU) her account to which we have refunded the said sum of N42,000 prize given to CCC EKINRIN-ADDE and another EASU individual.
“The below receipt is the evidence of payment into the ISU account date 21/08/2022 and the current president had confirmed the cash into the ISU account.
“b. That ISU desist forthwith from contacting or engaging with any arm of the EASU at all levels until the time the decision to disassociate with ISU is reversed ( if we ever will ) as our position to withdraw from the activities of NAOS and ISU subsists.
“c. That ISU should not invite EASU at the National or Local Chapters into any of her programmes and activities until further notice.
“Please note, that we have resolved not to be a part of the show of shame that the activities of both Okun and Ijumu Students Union have become.
