The Emir of Ilorin and chairman, Kwara State Traditional Rulers Council, Alh Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, has rejoiced with the regional editor of LEADERSHIP Newspapers (North-Central), Alh Abdullahi Olesin, for bagging Award of Credence for his contributions to the development of the society through developmental journalism.
Also, the Kwara State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) and the National League of Veteran Journalists (NALVEJ), Kwara State chapter, have congratulated Olesin on the award.
The senior adviser/counselor to Kwara State governor, Alh Saadu Salahu and the special adviser on Media, Alh Bashiru Adigun, have also rejoiced with Olesin on the new feather to his cap.
The award was presented to Olesin at ” Our Bookworm Challenge Contest” organised by SWOT in honour of Professor Saudat Abdulbaqi Sallah of the Mass Communication Department, University in Ilorin.
The Emir, in a goodwill message issued by his spokesman, Mal. Abdulazeez Arowona, lauded the Olesin for his numerous support to the Ilorin Emirate through balanced reporting among other sterling contributions.
Sulu-Gambari emphasised on the unique roles of media practitioners towards fostering peaceful and harmonious environment for business growth and community development, commending Olesin for his strides in that regard.
The monarch advocated for continuous support for journalists in order to enable them to serve the society better even as he thanked SWOT Team Organisation for Educational Development, Nigeria, Africa for the gesture and recognition of an illustrious son of Ilorin Emirate.
The NUJ statement signed by the council secretary, Olayinka Alaya reads:” The award is a testament to Alh Abdullahi Olesin’s unwavering dedication and invaluable contributions to our society. It reflects the deep significance the Awardee holds within his community and his impact on humanity at large. The National League of Veteran Journalists in its goodwill message signed by its chairman, Alh Tunde Akanbi, noted that the award was in recognition of Olesin’s invaluable contributions to the development of education and the society at large through developmental news reporting.
Describing the award as well deserved, Akanbi hailed Olesin’s passion for timely and accurate reporting of events, describing him as a reporter for all season.
He equally hailed the tenacity with which Olesin discharges his journalistic duties as well as his commitment to developmental journalism, which he noted stands out the veteran journalist amongst his peers.
He thanked the organisers of the award and Prof Saudat AbdulBaqi for recognising Olesin’s invaluable contributions to the development of Kwara State , Nigeria and humanity in general.
The NALVEJ chairman prayed for Allah’s continuous guidance and protection for Olesin.
