Kwara CP urges ethical reportage from journalists, lauds KOPAN’s cooperation

The Kwara State Police Command has reiterated its commitment to working with the press in ensuring adequate dissemination of information to the general public.

This came to the fore today while the state Commissioner of Police, CP Paul Odama played host to Kwara Online Publisher Association of Nigeria (KOPAN) at the Police Headquarter Ilorin, the capital of Kwara State.

The CP in his speech promised to keep journalists abreast about their efforts in safeguarding lives and properties in the state.

He enjoined members of KOPAN and the press generally to always verify fact of stories emanating from the activities of the command before publishing.

CP Odama added that publishing unverified stories abitrarily is mischievous and capable of misinforming the public into dissatisfaction.

In his remarks the Chairman of KOPAN, pledged the readiness of the association to working amicably with the Command’s hierarchy in keeping the populace informed on security matters.

Present at the familiarization visit were, OC SIB, Csp Kabiru Wada, the PPRO, SP Ajayi Okasanmi (anipr).
