CVR Deadline: INEC Completes 12.3m Registrations, Records 10m Fresh Entries

Upon the expiration of the July 31 deadline set for the Continuous Voters Registration, CVR, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has disclosed that a total of 12,298,944 registrations were completed, while it also recorded 10,487,972 fresh registrations.

The statistics which the commission said stood authentic as at Monday, August 1, was seen by Nigerian Pilot on its official Twitter handle.

Further breakdown of the statistics informed that online entries stood at 3,444,378, while physical registrations was 8,854,566. Out of this figure, 6,074,078 were males, while 6,224,866 were females.

Lagos State had the highest number of entrants with 585,629 registrations, followed closely by Kano State with a record of 569,103 registrations. Delta State was third with 523,517 entries, while Ekiti State recorded the lowest turnout with 124,844 registrations.

The statistics added that youths between the age of 18 to 34 years old dominated the completed registrations with 8,784,677 entries. Public servants recorded 125,025, forming the lowest category entrants. Persons With Disabilities, PWDs, recorded 87,083 turnouts.

Meanwhile, INEC had last weekend announced that the Permanent Voters Cards, PVCs or persons captured in the CVR would be ready in October and November.

Festus Okoye, INEC National Commissioner, Information and Publicity, disclosed this while monitoring the concluding segment of the ongoing CVR in Awka, Anambra last Saturday.

“The law equally requires that we should display the register in the 774 Local Government Areas and 8, 809 registration areas for claims and objections.

“And we have to print the PVCs, truck them to all the local government areas across the country for collection,” he said.

He added that PVC’s of those who registered between January and June would be ready in October, while those who registered from July 1 to July 31 would be ready in November.
