Nasarawa State Government Reopens Schools

The Nasarawa State Government has approved the reopening of secondary and primary schools.

This is coming 49 days after shutting down the schools due to security threats.

This is contained in a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary, PS, Ministry of Education, Mohammed Sani-Bala, for the Commissioner of Education, Mrs. Fati Jimeta.

The statement r ead’s,”in keeping with the 2022/2023 school academic Calendar, the school resumption for First-term, 2022/2023 Academic Session for all public and private schools is Sunday, September 18 for boarding Schools and Monday, 19 for day Schools”.

According to the statement, parents and guardians are to send their children and wards back to school as scheduled.

It also directed that all outstanding promotion examinations that could not be concluded due to the shutting down of schools in July were to commence from Monday, the 19th of September.

The state Commissioner for Education, Mrs. Fati Jimeta directed all Chief Evaluation Officers CEOs, across the state to monitor and ensure compliance with the directive by the government.

The Commissioner assured the public, especially parents that security has been beefed up in schools to ensure the safety of students and teachers.

Voice of Nigeria recalled that the Commissioner had on July 27, 2022, announced the closedown of schools in the state as preventive measures due to security threats in schools at the Federal Capital Territory, FCT Abuja.
