Ogun State Assembly Postpones Plenary Over Speaker’s Arrest

The Ogun State House of Assembly appears to have been thrown into confusion following the reported arrest of the Speaker of the House, Hon. Olakunle Oluomo.

Although the lawmakers were yet to issue any official reaction to the arrest, however, the plenary of the House could not be held since then as the members were observed to be preoccupied with plans and other critical matters related to the arrest of their speaker.

The Speaker, Ogun State House of Assembly, Mr Olakunle Oluomo, was arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, over allegations of offences bordering on financial crimes.

He was reportedly picked up on Thursday morning at the Murtala Mohammed Airport, Ikeja, Lagos, by EFCC operatives and taken into custody for questioning.

Media reports claimed that the EFCC accused Mr Oluomo of failing to honour several invitations by the Commission.
