The Nation President, Oodua Progressives Care Initiative (OPCI), Chief (Dr.) Maruff Olarewaju, has described the victory of the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as well deserved, saying “you worked harder for it than other candidates and you got it”.

The OPCI President, who stated this on Saturday in Ilorin, the Kwara state capital, during the swearing in of the new executive members of the state chapter of the OPCI, said Tinubu’s antecedents and achievements as former Governor of Lagos state has strengthened their unshaken belief in his ability and capacity to hit the ground running and move the nation to greater heights.

He said: “Tinubu’s unprecedented achievements as former Governor of Lagos state have strengthened our belief in his sincerity and capacity, and we have the feeling and impression that his government will be favourable to Nigerians. He should not be deterred or discouraged by the comments of hypocalcemia brain people who have nothing useful to offer.”

Olarewaju, who cautioned Tinubu to be wary of sycophants and remain focused, admonished his fellow contestants, particularly Atiku and Obi, to accept their defeat in good faith and rally round the President-elect “for the betterment of our dear nation”, knowing full well that in any contest there would always be a winner and losers too.

He said: ” Violence and instigation of one against another person will never bring any good to Nigeria. As a matter of fact, there can be no meaningful development in an atmosphere of bitterness, rancour and acrimony. Therefore, those who are aggrieved should bury their hatchets and allow the smooth take off of the Asiwaju administration. I also urge the President-elect to be magnanimous in victory.”

He urged all sons and daughters of Yoruba land across the country and in the Diaspora to sink their political and religious differences and rally round for the overall success of the Asiwaju administration, believing there are derivable benefits doing so.

The OPCI President, while congratulating the newly sworn in executive members of the organisation in the state, urged them “to be more loyal, dedicated, sincere, transparent and aggressive in their mobilisation for the organisation to grow more and more, adding that they should take a cue from the pitfalls of their predecessors and where they also got it right.
