According to Wikipedia, a Visioneer is someone who has a strong foresight for a brighter and better future and he is able to imagine how to achieve it. Visionaries are often creative, innovative, and persistent, and they can see potential in times of change. The likes of Muhammad Yunus, Founder of Grameen Bank; Bill Gates, Co-founder of Microsoft & prominent philanthropist, and Sir David Attenborough, a renowned naturalist and broadcaster, are Visioneers of high repute.
Hon. Mashood Mustapha (MM), the Wakilin of Ilorin Emirate and Chairman of Crystal Group of Companies is a Visioneer whose vision is to inspire and propel anyone who comes his way to greatness, especially Kwarans, irrespective of their political affiliations, religious inclination or ethnicity. His vision is to see Kwara amongst the best states in Nigeria.
MM as he is fondly called, is a goal-getter. He is physically and mentally strong to carry out daunting tasks that will result in resounding success.
One of the qualities of a Visioneer is the ability to be unselfish. Hon. MM puts the interests of Kwarans at the fore in everything he does. This unique attribute was aptly captured in an Article by Ogbeni Alanamu Abiola Kazeem. He said, “Despite not currently holding an elective position, Hon. Mashood Mustapha has remained a pillar of support to his constituents”.
One of the challenges a Visioneer faces is ensuring that he considers the people’s interests above his own when making decisions. For instance, a non-visioneer or visionless leader will give priority and extend privileges to outsiders while his kinsmen are made to settle for crumbs. That is a colossal mistake that a Visioneer will never make.
As a Visioneer and vision carrier, one of the qualities of Hon. Mashood Mustapha is impartiality. His ability to treat everyone equally makes him unique among his contemporaries. An impartial leader will make a great leader, as he will allocate resources to the whole constituency and entire State based on its needs and not whether a particular local government, ward or zone supports him or loves him.
Another astounding thing about Hon. MM as a Visioneer is his ability to make quality decisions. He has vast knowledge about the intricacies of governance and he is capable of making decisions on behalf of his people who hold him in high esteem as their leader and benefactor. Leaders with poor decision-making skills end up implementing poor policies that are inimical to development. According to Hon. MM, “Quality decision making will lead to the development of a State Politically, Socially and Economically and on the other hand, poor decision making will result in slow economic development, political instability and unpleasant occurrences within the State”.
A Visioneer like MM has the ability to inspire by guiding the people on the right path and giving them hope in tough times. Despite the current harsh economic realities, Hon. MM has made it a duty to support the needy, giving them hope for a brighter tomorrow.
