Bola Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, has urged Lagos residents to refrain from using violence in the aftermath of his loss to Peter Obi in the election.
“The fact that the APC narrowly lost Lagos state to another party should not be the reason for violence. As a democrat, you win some, you lose some. We must allow the process to continue unhindered across the country while we maintain peace and decorum,” he said.
Tinubu said this in a statement on Monday, hours after Obi was declared the winner.
The election outcome should not be a source of contention, he added
Obi, the Labour Party’s candidate, was declared the winner in Lagos, Tinubu’s traditional stronghold.
Collation of results started on Sunday, across the country.
Analysts on Radio Nigeria Mandate Studio commended, which the called, an improved electoral processes by INEC, but complaints about delay in the commencement of voting.
They pointed out that more still needed to be done. (RN)
