Tinubu to attend NESG dialogue with presidential candidates Jan 13

The Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu will attend a dialogue between the Nigerian Economic Summit Group and presidential candidates on January 13.

This was revealed in a revised campaign calendar released by the APC after a meeting between Tinubu, his running mate Kashim Shettima and the Presidential Campaign Council Monday night.

According to The Nation, part of the changes in the new calendar was the campaign in Sokoto earlier slated for January 16, which will hold on January 29.

The NESG had in a statement on Tuesday also announced the interactive sessions with presidential candidates.

In a statement by its CEO, ‘Laoye Jaiyeola, the NESG said the dialogue will be an “independent direct engagements with the presidential candidates on critical economic policy reform issues and prescriptions, in the national interest.”

The statement further read in part: “The presidential dialogue series is geared towards sensitising stakeholders and citizens of Nigeria on peaceful, informed and accountable democratic participation and would provide a unique platform and opportunity for presidential candidates to discuss their economic agenda in an environment of civil discourse.

“The Presidential Dialogue on Economic Policy will seek to curate content that focuses on the state of the economy and addresses the concerns of the citizens before the 2023 presidential elections.”

The APC presidential candidate had before now shunned debates organised by media houses in preparation for next month’s presidential election.

In a statement by his media team, Tinubu said he didn’t want to honour one invitation and decline another due to his tight schedules. He also added that he has been meeting directly with various sectors in the country through his town hall meetings. (Nation)
