Two People Reportedly Injured as Armed Robbers Attack Motorists in Kwara

Two people have confirmed sustained different degrees of injuries as result of armed robbery attack on motorists plying Oro Ago- Omu Aran road in ifelodun local government area of Kwara State today, Friday.

Confirming the incident to the newsmen in Ilorin, the spokesman of the Kwara State Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), Babawale Zaid Afolabi, disclosed that the armed robbery attack occured in the early hours of Friday.

The statement reads “On Friday 28/01/2022 at about 0700 hours our officers on routine patrol at Oro Ago/ Omu Aran axis was alerted that there was an ongoing armed robbery attack at a very remote location, alongside Oro Ago/ Omu Aran road. The NSCDC operatives together with other sister agencies and local vigilante rushed down to the scene of the incident but the robbers had fled”

He disclosed further that before the dare devil robbers fled the scene they have succeeded in dispossessing motorists and passengers of two commercial buses of their valuables and other belongings and also attacked two drivers with matchete.

“Two drivers from the Oro Ago motor park were attacked by the armed robbers and the two were seriously injured. Meanwhile, the drivers are receiving medical attention at an hospital in Oro Ago”.

He, however added that the security agencies in the area are working together with the local vigilante and hunters to track down the suspected robbers.
