Unilorin decries antics of impostors

0

The University of Ilorin has distanced itself from some online content creators, impostors and potential fraudsters who sniff around for developments, hints and rumours on and around the University rather than contact the Directorate of Corporate Affairs, the official channel of communication in the University for accurate and detailed information.

The Director of Corporate Affairs, Mr. Kunle Akogun, said this while shedding further light on the press statement issued by the University’s management earlier, dated November 5, 2022, which he signed.

The information arrow-head of the Institution noted that “because it is natural for everyone to desire a relationship with successful personalities, institutions and brands, people from all walks of life desire to have a relationship with the high calibrepersonalities that populate the University, they desire to have a relationship with the University as an institution, and they desire association with the distinguished University of Ilorin brand”.

Mr Akogun, however, noted that for those who desire to have a relationship with the University, there are several legitimate means to create a relationship and the most affordable of such is to contact the official communication channel of the University for accurate information on the University.

Speaking further, the Director warned that unsolicited use of the University’s emblems, name and indeed information that is part of the University’s identity could amount to crime and he reiterated the warning in the aforementioned Press Release to members of the public that the University did not release any phone number to prospective candidates for its 2022/2023 post-UTME screening and those behind the website referred to in the Press statement did not announce the ongoing Post-UTME screening of the University for altruistic reasons, rather, they made their publication with malicious intent to defraud unsuspecting members of the public.
