The Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, has congratulated the newly appointed heads of the Kwara State Government-owned media establishments on the confirmation of their appointments by the Governor of the State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, CON.
In a statement signed on his behalf by the University’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Mr Kunle Akogun, the Vice Chancellor said that the appointment of Mr Tajudeen Kayode Aremu, Mr Yomi Clement Adeboye and Mr Razaq Ayobami Akanbi as Geberal Managers of Radio Kwara, The Herald and Kwara TV, respectively, was not only timely but also well deserved.
The three appointees are distinguished alumni of the Better by far University.
While Mr Aremu and Mr Adeboye were reappointed, having served in the same capacities before now, Mr Ayobami was newly appointed, having recently retired as the State Director of Information Services.
The Vice Chancellor described the re-appointment of Mr Aremu as the General Manager of the Kwara State Broadcasting Corporation (Radio Kwara) as a reward for professionalism and hard work, which he incontrovertibly demonstrated before and in the course of his initial tenure at the station.
Prof. Egbewole also rejoiced with the reappointed General Manager of the Kwara State Printing and Publishing Corporation, the publishers of The Herald Group of Newspapers, Mr Adeboye, as another fascinating reward for exceptional professionalism and industry of many years, particularly at the 50 years old newspaper outfit.
The Vice Chancellor, who also welcomed the appointment of Mr Akanbi as the General Manager of the Kwara State Television Service, Ilorin, said that Mr Akanbi has evidently paid his due to deserve the headship of the television house.
The Vice Chancellor, who thanked the Governor for appointing the three distinguished alumni of the University of Ilorin.
He added that the continuous appointment of alumni and members of staff of the University of Ilorin into sensitive public positions by the Kwara State Government is an indication of a very robust relationship between the University and its host state.
While explaining that the University looks forward to working with the media outfits and their General Managers towards the continuous positive projection and preservation of its alluring vision and reputations as the nation’s most sought-after University, he added that the institution would also continue to leverage on the three media houses for further training of students from relevant academic departments.
The Vice Chancellor urged the new media Chief Executives to justify their appointments by continuing to offer quality services to the people and government of Kwara State and humanity at large as he wished the three gentlemen a very peaceful and successful tenure of office.
