With few days to this year’s s Valentine Day celebration, the Gender Unit of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Kwara State Command on Friday carried out a sensitisation programme at selected schools in Ilorin, the state capital.
The motive behind the sensitisation was to enlighten the students especially girls on the need to avoid any act that can destroy their future all in the name of Valentine celebrations.
The State Commandant, Makinde Iskil Ayinla who was represented by the head of the gender unit, advised the students to face their studies as any action or inaction of the students that could jeopardize their future must be avoided all in the name of celebrating Valentine.
According to the spokesman of the NSCDC in the State Babawale Zaid Afolabi, among the schools visited by the officers and men of the Corps are St. Anthony Secondary School, C&S College among other schools in Ilorin metropolis.
“Valentine Day is all about celebrating and showing love to one another. But the day is being abused by our youth and school children and that is why the State Commandant Makinde Iskil Ayinla deemed it fit to sensitize the school girls about the dos and don’ts of the valentine celebrations”
