Why I built 4th longest bridge in Nigeria – Udom

Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom state has explained why he built the fourth longest bridge in the country, the 1.15km Offi-Uko Nteghe bridge, in Mbo local government area of the state.

The bridge, said to be longest ever to be contracted by any state government in Nigeria, was commissioned, Monday, January 16 by former President Goodluck Jonathan.

Speaking at the event, the governor said what prompted him to embark on such a gigantic project was to link various life touching projects proposed for that flank of the state, like the Libert Free Trade zone, the Ibom Solution Hub said to be one of the largest oil & gas logistics centre in Africa.

He said “This area is where the future of Nigeria lies. When we took the mantle of leadership in 2015, I said that our goal is to serve and I have tried not to be distracted.

“I said during the campaign for my second term that we would open up the revenue areas and spread life-touching projects across the 31 local government areas of the State simultaneously.

“Mbo is where the Ibom Solution Hub in oil and gas is, the bridge is significant because with it many industrial developments projects in the area would be possible. With the government of the People’s Democratic Party, the people of this area will have a sense of fulfilment and Akwa Ibom shall be better every day.”

Speaking while commissioning the bridge, former president Goodluck Jonathan, commended Governor Udom for his passionate commitment to improving the quality of his people’s lives through great projects.

“It takes somebody with total commitment to improving the quality of life of his people to embark on this type of huge project. I can testify that Gov Emmanuel builds projects that directly impact his people. I congratulate the performing Governor and congratulate Akwa Ibom people,” he stated.
