Why We Joined APC – Ex-PDP Chairman, Ex-Commissioner

Chieftains of the People Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State, Hon. Ahmed Mohammed Rifun and Hon. Haruna Muhammad Tambiri have said that they resolved to join the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State after assessing the performance of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq administration in the last three years.

The duo disclosed this while speaking with the pressmen on Wednesday in Ilorin, the state capital.

Hon. Ahmed Mohammed Rifun, a politician from Patigi Local Government area of the state, who was also a former councillor, Council Chairman, Commissioner and later political party chairman under the platform of the PDP and DPP, said “I have studied and reviewed the activities of the present administration led by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and discovered that he has been performing beyond my expectation, most especially in the area of infrastructure development, and workers’ welfare.

“I said to myself that with all these. This man deserves our support for him to do more.”

Responding to a question on an allegation from some quarters that he was joining APC because of monetary gain, Hon. Ahmed said “I am a politician with over 30 years of experience, this kind of rumour is not new to me, especially from the camp I defected from, for instance, “the photo circulating on social media, where I posed with the Kwara North senatorial candidate of PDP was taken five months ago, not in recent time.

“That is not true, they should ask around if anyone induces me with money or has given me money. My reason for joining APC came in the interest of the development of our beloved state.

“I am joining the party for me to support His Excellency to come back for the second term and do more” he said

Also speaking, Hon. Haruna Muhammad Tambiri, who was a former commissioner in the cabinet of ex-governor Abdulfatai Ahmed’s administration, said “joining the APC was my conviction about the performance of a sitting governor, after all, I am in politics for the development of my community and people and when I saw many infrastructural developments embarked on by this administration, most especially, the renovation and construction of many classrooms in my town, Tsaragi”

“The construction of three main roads and much more human capital development, all gave me the conviction that this man meant well for our state and my senatorial district in particular.

“For you to know, I have sent a tribute to him before now on the good work his administration is doing.

“As a community stakeholder, the interest of my community comes first before any other thing. This governor is taking care of my primary interest, which is community development, and that is why I am interested in his coming back to do more”
