A widow, Suliat Adeleke of Idi-igba Weere, Akerebiata Area, along Harmony Estate, Ilorin, has solicited state government assistance to enable her secure a humble abode, after rainstorm destroyed her house.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that heavy rain accompanied by vehement rainstorm on Saturday evening pulled down the two bedroom bungalow belonging to the widow.
The elderly woman made the appeal in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ilorin on Sunday.
NAN reports that there was a heavy rainfall in Ilorin on April 15, which started around 7 p.m., with lots of windstorm, causing havoc on some properties.
Adeleke, a widow with four children and a food vendor, explained how her apartment collapsed as a result of the rainstorm.
According to her, a strong wind ripped the rooftop of her house during the rainfall and later scattered the whole house, causing total collapse of the building.
The widow, who spoke in an emotion ladden voice, further said that all her belongings got lost during the period, leaving her stranded with no where to squad.
She disclosed that at the early hours of Sunday, she picked few of her belongings that were scattered around and took abode at an uncompleted building close to her house.
Adeleke appealed to the state government and the general public to assist her to secure a place to live and a source of income.
