Yobe Govt hands over 33 stolen cows to owner

The Yobe state government has handed over 33 stolen cows to the owner, recovered by security personnel in the state.

The cattle were rustled from Muchale village in  Mubi Local Government Area of  Adamawa state.

Cattle rustling is one of the major security challenge with multiplier effects facing the northern of part of Nigeria with its negative consequence affecting economic, social and other human activities.

Yobe being host to some of the major cattle markets in the North East attracts chain of suppliers from different sources hence the resolve of the different interest groups including Government, security agents, cattle breeder among others to monitor activities in these markets to prevent criminals especially cattle rustlers  from using the markets to dispose their stolen wears.

Such effort has been yielding the desired results, one of which is the recent recovery of some missing herds on the third of this month’s  at Wagir, a village located along a main cattle route in Gijba local government area of Yobe state.

 While handing over the thirty three recovered  livestock to the owner,  the Director security at the Yobe  state  Governor’s Office, Yakubu Musa Damagum said they  were recovered by vigilante groups with the support of security agents who were on a search mission.

Yakubu Musa Damagum further  reiterated the commitment of Yobe state  government to continue encouraging good working synergy between  security agencies, vigilante groups and communities to make the state uncomfortable for criminal elements.

Some of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders officials Alhaji Audu Isa the Adamawa branch chairman and Ibrahim Adamu Nangere from Yobe state want other states in the country to emulate Yobe state by taking measures to expose cattle rustlers wherever they might be hiding.

Responding after taking custody of his missing cows, Mr Francis Kwahur said the recovery of the thirty three cows out of the forty eight rustled by armed bandits has given him sigh of relief and commended the authorizes for the success recorded.(FRCN)
