The candidate of the People Democratic Party (PDP) for Ilorin West/Asa Federal Constituency in the 2023 general election in Kwara State, Alhaji Ibrahim Mohammed Ajia says it will be an easy task getting the ruling APC voted out of power submitting that the party had already ‘de-marketed’ itself through its many policy failures.

Ajia said this in Ilorin on Sunday during the submission of report by the Committee on Research, Planning and Strategy which was set up by his Campaign organization a few weeks ago.

He stated that what the leading opposition party, the PDP only needs to do ‘is to highlight such failures’ and make them ‘our campaign points’.

The committee headed by former Chairman of llorin West local government, Alhaji Ahmed Bayero, had Ayodeji Muritala as secretary with Alhaji Yekini Ilobu, Alhaji Musa Muhammad, Alhaja Kehinde Baale and Mr. Luqman Giwa as members.

Alhaji Bayero noted that the report was a product of public input, opinions and advice given by all relevant stakeholders, adding that past mistakes were also identified in order to avoid such in the future.

He noted that if the recommendations contained in the report are strictly followed, it will result in election victory for the Ilorin West/Asa House of Representatives candidate, Alhaji Ibrahim Ajia and other candidates of the party in the federal constituency while adding that members of the committee will be available for clarifications and will also expand on reasons for coming up with any of the recommendations ‘if there is a need for such’.

Ibrahim Ajia, who thanked Alhaji Ahmed Bayero and others for not only accepting to serve on the committee but for also coming up with plans and strategy for the campaign council, appreciated their passion and love for the PDP and the development of Kwara state and for working day and night to produce such a valuable report, this, he noted, was quite commendable and ‘a brilliant performance’.

“I am happy that you could come up with this despite the little resources available. I was informed of instances where the chairman made provisions and got the committee members entertained in his house, I thank you for this.

“The submission of this report marks the beginning of an important journey that will produce a federal lawmaker in Asa/Ilorin West federal constituency, who will ensure an effective, responsible and quality representation” he said.

Ajia added that the report will be made available to the campaign council at the state level and all the PDP candidates in the state while his campaign group’s Advisory Council will also peruse the report.

While noting that his campaign organization will be guided by the report, he also told members of the committee that their job has not finished as they will remain a valuable asset to the campaign organization.

Ajia said that the ruling APC had brought nothing to Nigerians but extreme hardship and suffering citing the rising food prices.

He said Nigeria had been brought to its knees and that all efforts must be made to rescue the country while adding that getting this done will require the commitment of everybody.

Ajia also promised party members that whoever works for the party’s victory will not be taken for granted.

He also promised an issue-based campaign while noting there will be no need for propaganda arguing that the APC had already de-marketed itself and that the only thing the PDP needed to do ‘is to highlight’ the ruling party’s failures while lamenting that things had never gotten this bad.

‘There are security fears everywhere leaving anyone travelling by road to feel unsafe’ he said.

Submitting that Nigerians had already seen the level the APC had taken the country to , he said ‘ it is left for them to take an important decision next year’ while urging electors in the state not to get intimidated but rather stand firm and resist any form of intimidation.

Calling himself the ambassador of the young people, Ajia noted that the segment with the highest population when it comes to registered voters in the country are the young people, who had according to him, promised to vote for the PDP in order to produce a new crop of leaders that will change things for the better in the country.

“It will be easy to tell the young people that APC is the reason why they are unemployed, why they are hungry and why their family members are being kidnapped’ he said. Commenting on the planned naira redesign exercise, Ajia said it was wrong in timing and also done in bad faith submitting that it had made the naira to fall significantly against the U.S. dollar at the parallel market.

“Only a few Nigerians stand to benefit from this while the majority of Nigerians will be made to face increased suffering and hardships’’ he said.

Ajia alleged that some indigenes of the state were also involved and had been named among the few people benefiting from such an exercise while causing the majority of Nigerians hardships. No Godly person will according to him make others suffer economic hardship while he or she benefits from such a situation.

He said it had become important for Kwarans to pose questions to anyone asking for their votes and seek to know what they do for a living and their ‘source of income’ adding that once they are found to be among those causing Nigerians pain and agony, they must be rejected no matter the title such a person holds in the society.

The advisory council of the Ibrahim Ajia Campaign Organization is headed by Hon Sikirullahi Sholagberu, a one-time chairman of Ilorin West local government.

Other members of the committee are Ajia’s two former co-aspirants; Hon. Oba Aluko and Hon. Suleiman Warah, Hon. Lanre Okanlawon and Dr. Mufutau Yahya while Hon. Oladimeji Shuaib is the secretary.

Also in attendance were Hon Omotosho Monsurat, Chairperson, Contact and Mobilization committee, Hon Olaitan Obalowu, Alhaji Ayinla Oladimeji and Alhaja Fatimah Magaji
