NPFL: Kwara Utd Beat Enyimba By 2-1, As Ogbole Wins MVP Award

Kwara United Football Club on Sunday defeated the visiting Enyimba International Football Club of Aba at the ongoing Matchday 27 of the 2023-2024 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).

Emmanuel Ogbole became the hero of the day as he scored a brace that resulted in the defeat of the former African Champion 2-1 in the encounter that took place at the Main Bowl of the Kwara State Stadium Complex, Ilorin.

The encounter saw Coach, Yemi Olanrewaju of Enyimba and two of his players, Chigizie Chilekwu and Desmond Ojietefian sent off by officiating officials toward the end of the match for their unsportsmanly conduct.

Reacting after the match, Coach Yemi frowned at the number of yellow and red cards issued by the officiating officials during the match saying it weakened his team.

“Both teams competed well, scored good goals, and I must congratulate Kwara United for the win. They needed the win and they fought for it. But the referees weakened us with yellow and red cards”.

In his reaction, Coach Kabir Sulaiman Dogo, of Kwara United, commended his players for displaying a high level of mentality throughout the game and thanked Kwarans for their support.

Also reacting to the outcome of the match, the General Manager of Kwara United, Bashir Badawiy thanked the supporters and the state government under Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for their support.

“It was a great fight from my players and I am happy that we got the win even though it was not easy playing against one of the best teams in Nigeria.

“I want to thank the State Government under our amiable Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, the fans who filled the Stadium and all Kwarans for their support. Thank you.”

Following the win over Enyimba, Kwara United now occupy 14th position on the NPFL table and will be facing 3SC in Ibadan this coming Tuesday in their next encounter.
