NASU, ASURI Backed Joint Research Union to Continue Strike Action

NASU and ASURI Members of the Bioresources Development Centre Ogbomoso led by Comrade Babatunde Seyi Julius and Comrade Femi Afolabi respectively on Monday expressed their support to Joint Research and Allied Sector (JORAISU) to continued strike action in pressing home their demands from the federal government.

The two unions expressed this while holding placards with different inscriptions boldly written on them at the entrance of the centre in Ogbomoso, Oyo state.

It is no longer news that Joint Research and Allied Sector Union (JORAISU) have declared an industrial action since the eleventh day of October, 2021 due to alleged shabby treatment being melted on workers in the research Agencies and Institutes in Nigeria.

Following are JORAISU demands; Payment of 12 CONRAISS arrears of 53.37% salary increase since 2009, Retirement age of 65 years for non-scientific staff, Peculiar/Earned allowances, Establishment of a central body to be known as NARICOM ( national research institute commission), Release of scheme/condition of service, Adequate funding of research institute.

Saying FG is showing lackadaisical attitude to their demands and refused to engage JORAISU in any meaningful negotiation.

JORAISU, however vowed to continue the strike until their demands are being met by the FG.
