Alleged Fraud by Past Administration: Kwara discloses Next Move to Get Justice

The Kwara state government has disclosed its next move to ensure all persons alleged of misappropriated public funds among members of the past administration are brought to book.

The state commissioner of Communications, Olabode Towoju disclosed this yesterday while responding to questions from journalists at a personality news programme tagged ‘Newskeg’ at the secretariat of the Correspondents’ Chapel of NUJ, Muritala Mohammed Road, Ilorin.

“We are not giving up on ensuring those that siphoned our collective patrimony and put the state in wretched condition are brought to book. The justice mostly comes very slowly but when it comes to pass it could be very devastating. We should also not forget that we are talking of the people who are very clever in their way, who keep hiding under technical grounds to checkmate all our moves. But moving forward, we have engaged servicee of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) to fight most of the cases and we are confident that every one of them will be brought to book”, he said.

Speaking on the effort of the government to arrest insecurity in the state, the commissioner said the state government is doing a lot in the area of security but not all the efforts of the government in that sector can be disclosed to the public.

“You remember in a couple of days ago we had a security challenge at Obo-Aiyegunle axis and His Excellency, quickly gave a marching order and serious searching is ongoing to apprehend the criminals terrorising the people of that area and you could also recall that the notorious criminal ‘Dogo’ who had caused mayhem not only in Kwara but Niger, Ekiti and Kogi too was sent to the world beyond here in Kwara state. We are seriously up and doing in the area of security”.

Responding to the question on the reason for the slow phase of work on the ongoing overhead bridge construction at Tanke/University of Ilorin Road, the commissioner said the reason is to ensure quality work that will stand the test of time, assuring the residents that the state government will ask the contractor to speed up the work.

He, also disclosed that the state government has approved the promotion of Tescom Teachers in the state.

Responding to question the recent defection of some All Progressive Congress (APC), members to other parties after the primary elections, the commissioner said they are not jittery about the people that left after losing in the primaries, adding that Kwara has grown beyond someone hand-picking candidates at the detriment of others that are more popular and acceptable to the electorates.

He also said that the governor and the party presidential candidates will win the forthcoming elections convincingly.
