Auto Accident: Offa Poly declares 2 days lecture free to douse tension

The management of the Federal Polytechnic Offa, Kwara State have declared Thursday and Friday as lecture free days to douse tension that erupted from the auto accident that happened along the school road on Wednesday and killed three persons.

The auto accident which occurred at the early hours of Wednesday was reported by the eyewitness to involved a Toyota Camry car and Tricycle also known as Keke Napep along Offa/Ojoku Road in Offa Local Government area.

An eyewitness account further revealed that some students of the Federal Polytechnic Offa, were inside the Tricycle (Keke Napep) and sustained serious injuries.

It was also reported that irate mob burnt the Toyota Camry car that was driven by auto mechanic to ashes at the spot of the accident.

In a statement signed by the Director Public Relations and Protocol of the Polytechnic, Olayinka Iroye, and made available to the Journalists said the rationale behind the 2 days lecture free is to guide against likely restive, following how the school area was filled with tension after the unfortunate incident.

According to the statement “Subsequent upon the ugly incident of Wednesday 18th November, 2020, the Management has declared a 2 days lecture free from Thursday 19th to Friday 20th”

“Students are expected to resume for lecture on Monday 23rd November, 2020.”

He, further appealed to the Staff and students of the school to remain calm said “the two students involved in the accident are responding to the treatment and are in good condition”
