Be self-positioned For Nation Building, Gov. Abdulrazaq Enjoins NYSC

The National Youth Service Corps on Friday, 24th November Commenced 2023 batch C stream 2 orientation course across the country. This Orientation is first of the four (4) Cardinal programmes of the scheme that aimed at equipping the deployed Prospective Corps Members the requisite leadership skills and seal to engage the compulsory one year of national service.

Meanwhile, to be fully inducted into the National Youth Service Corps, oath of allegiance has to be administered on the Prospective Corps Members.

Speaking at the swearing in ceremony at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Yikpata, the Kwara State governor, His Excellency governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq enjoined the newly sworn in Corps Members to be more intentional in contributing their quotas to the quest of national development.

Governor Abdulrahman, speaking through the Senior Special Adviser and Counsellor to the governor, Alh. Saadu Salahu urged them to take clue from their predecessors who geared their national service towards active participation in nation building through their various Community Development Service.

The governor also assured the top-notch welfare and security of the Corps Members. He affirmed that the Kwara state is popular for peace and further stressed that the state of harmony has highest number of inter-tribes marriages in the country.

He however warned them not to dogmatically get involved in local politics or disrespect the cultural values of their host communities.

The State Coordinator, NYSC Kwara, Mr. Onifade Olaoluwa has reiterated the level of preparedness of the scheme to have the successful orientation exercise. He disclosed that the whole Camp has been fumigated immediately after the 2023 stream 1 orientation course to create habitable environment for the new stream.

He also said that casual hands are engaged for proper cleaning and maintenance of exquisite hygiene in the Corps Members hostels’ conveniences. The NYSC Boss in the state explained that services of veterinarians and other personnel were also engaged to screen consumables and corps members are also cohort in supervision of the processes of all the meals on camp.

The state coordinator further said the Camp is highly regimented, warned that no act of indiscipline would be condoled. He added that some activities, such as Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development training, lectures, drills, man’o’ war physical exercise, games and sports , amongst others had been put in place for corps members to participate.

He, however ,urged them to disclose their health status in order to be better served by the medical team on camp, added that their medical wellbeing is more important to the scheme.

Present at the occasion were the chairman NYSC State Governing Board, Kwara State Commissioner for Youth Development, Hon. Usman Yunusa Lade, the Chief Judge Kwara State Hon. Justice Hannah Ajayi

Others are Senior Assistant to the Governor on Religion Matter, Alh. Ibrahim Dan magor. The Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Youth Development, Alh. Abdulrazaq Babatunde Alabere, amongst others.
