Buhari unveils Agenda 2050

President Muhammadu Buhari has unveiled the Nigeria Agenda 2050, which aims to increase real GDP growth by 7% and create 165 million new jobs across the country.

The President conducted the launch, which comes roughly seven weeks after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) adopted the policy document on March 15, before the start of the weekly FEC meeting on Wednesday.

President Buhari in his remark, said dynamic knowledge-based economy that will bring sustainable development by 2050.

He said document, which also intends to raise Nigeria’s per capita income to $33,328 per year to rank the country among the world’s top economies by 2050, will be beneficial.

Buhari first inaugurated the National Steering Committee for the preparation of the Medium-Term National Development Plan 2021-2025 and Nigeria Agenda 2050 in November 2020.

Meanwhile, the council observed a minute silence in honour of a former Minister of Solid Minerals Development and former Minister of Employment, Labour and Productivity, Late Musa Gwadabe, who passed away on Wednesday, April 26, 2023, aged 86.

The FCT meeting was attended by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo; Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha; Head of Civil Service, Folashade Yemi-Esan; and the President’s Chief of Staff, Ibrahim Gambari and others. (RN)
