Dogara appointed into Atiku Presidential Campaign Council

Former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara has been appointed a member of the Peoples Democratic Party Presidential Campaign Council.

Dogara’s appointment was announced in a statement by Sokoto State Governor and Director General of the campaign, Aminu Tambuwal.

The former Speaker had recently declared his support for Atiku after himself and other Christian leaders in the All Progressives Congress (APC) rejected the Muslim-Muslim ticket of the party.

They said it was wrong for the APC presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu – a Muslim – to pick another Muslim, Kashim Shettima as his running mate.

Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal who was in Dogara’s group had earlier announced the group’s endorsement of Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

Dogara and other members of the group, however, dissociated themselves from Lawal, saying he was on his own.
