Edo train attack: Police rescue minors, parents still in captivity

Operatives of Edo State police command have said five train passengers, out of dozens abducted by suspected armed herders on Saturday have been rescued.

The passengers were waiting to board a train to Warri, Delta State when the hoodlums struck.

Up to 31 passengers were thereafter reportedly taken away while others sustained injuries during the attack.

Among the rescued victims include a retired police officer, a lady and three kids.

Two of the rescued kids – a boy and a girl parents’ whereabouts were said to be unknown at the time of filing this report.

The Edo State Command Spokesperson, SP Chidi Nwanbuzor, who disclosed this, said the rescue was made possible in collaboration with other security agents including the local vigilante and hunters.

Nwabuzor said, “Though the numbers of kidnapped victims have not been ascertained at the moment but the command has recorded some achievements.

“The police with other security agencies, the Edo state Security Network, vigilante and hunters are still combing and hunting the bush to rescue the victim unhurt and further arrest the perpetrators.” (Blueprint)
