Eid-El-fitri: Governments Urged To Stabilize Food Prices

Both the federal and state governments in the country have been urged to find ways to reduce and stabilize food prices in the markets as the nation enjoys relief on foreign exchange rate.

A spiritual leader and National Ameer of Daaru-r-Rahmat (DARMAT) Islamic Society, Sheikh Musibau-deen Olawale, gave the piece of advice in a statement issued in Ilorin, Kwara state capital on the sideline of the Eid-el- fitri celebrations

“The prevalent economic situation in the country occasioned by the increase in the prices of foods in the country has continued to have a toll on livelihood of Nigerians.

“The development is so devastating that it is very hard for many homes to have three square meals a day, and this has also affected the health growth of the people.

“And with the improvement in the Nigeria’s naira against US dollars, I am appealing to the federal and state governments to work together on this and ensure that prices of food items are stabilized and reduced to enable the people have access to foods with ease”.

The cleric, who also used the occasion to call on Muslims to allow the lessons of Ramadan fasting to reflect on their daily lives, said that Ramadan teachings remained catalyst for a strong nation.

“Islam advocates accountability, sincerity, and support for one another. It also tasks an individual to show good deeds in order to reduce hunger and poverty in the society.

“More than 600 people benefited from a programme, tagged, “feeding a soul” organized by the organization during Ramadan and I am appealing to well meaning people in the country to always assist the less privileged around them”, he said.

He also called on Muslim faithful not to go back to all sinful acts that they had refrained from during the month of Ramadan so as to assist them receive the blessings of Allah.
