Empowerment: Sen. Ashiru Sponsors Constituents on Fishery Training as AFAN lauds initiative

    A lawmaker, representing the people of Kwara South Senatorial constituency at the National Red Chamber  Abuja, Senator Oyelola Ashiru has sponsored ten peoples selected from his constituency to Federal College of Fisheries and Marine Technology, Victoria Island, Lagos to be equipped on fishery business

    The two days training exposes the participants to Record keeping, Hatchery, Packaging, Marketing and Production of fish foods, amongst other trainings received on fish processing.

    Speaking at the end of the two days trainingone of the beneficiaries, Mr. Opeyemi Emmanuel who is a director of Eleyin Ventures, recounted how he used to experience high rate of mortality during hatchery at his farm said the training has broadened his knowledge more on hatchery and that he can now hatch without recording mortality added that the knowledge acquired on record keeping for aquaculture would go a long way in assisting his business.

    Meanwhile, the chairman of All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN) Offa chapter, Mr. Adekeye Ishaq has applauded Senator Ashiru for the unique ways of empowering the constituent, most especially in agriculture related areas like this particular training.

    Mr Adekeye who was also one of the beneficiaries said he would share the knowledge acquired with his fellow farmers in fishery business

    “I have learned more on fish processing, packaging and marketing for more acceptability, I will endeavor to pass the knowledge acquired to my members”

    The ten beneficiaries were selected from all the seven local government areas that made up of the constituency and each one of them were given certificate and sum of fifty thousands naira to support their existing fishery  business.
