The news of the appointment of a foremost lawyer and former chairman, National Iron Ore Mining Company , Itakpe, Dr Alimi AbdulRazaq as Mutawalle of Ilorin by the Emir of Ilorin, Alh Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari was received with excitement by his family members, friends and associates.
Alimi is the senior brother of Kwara State governor, AbdulRahaman AbdulRazaq and the first child of the late first northern Nigerian lawyer, Alh AGF AbdulRazaq.
AGF AbdulRazaq held the title of Mutawalle of Ilorin until his demise early 2020.
Upon the announcement of Alimi’s appointment on Thursday, admirers, friends and associates trooped to the AbdulRazaqs’ family residence at Surulere area, Ilorin to fecilitate with the AbdulRazaqs.
Alimi who thanked God for the honour bestowed on him.
He equally expressed his gratitude to the Emir of Ilorin, Alh Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari for finding him worthy of the appointment and prayed God to grant the monarch long and prosperous reign.
Dr. Muhammed Alimi AbdulRazaq
is a highly experienced and respected lawyer of over 42 years post-call experience.
He is the Managing Partner of A. Abdul-Razaq (SAN) & Co .
Born in Zaria , Dr AbdulRazaq atttended Capital School Kaduna and St Gregory’s College Ikoyi Lagos. He is a graduate of Law from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Nigeria and holds an LLM and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Hull, UK.
He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, Nigeria and an elected member of the Royal Institute of International Affairs, London.
Dr AbdulRazaq is on the Board of First Bank Holdings as a non- executive Director. He holds several other board memberships .
He has served the nation in several capacities as Commissioner, Legal Licensing and Enforcement with the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC); Chairman, National Iron Ore Mining Company , Itakpe and member , National Council on Privatization .
He is the Founder and Chairman of Bridge House College, Ikoyi Lagos. He is the pioneer recipient of the Alumni Laurette Award of the University of Hull for legal scholarship and educational endowments.
He is a philanthropist and sponsor of many charitable initiatives . He’s a Patron of Gamji Foundation, Kwara State and a member of Arewa Consultative Forum .
Alimi is happily married with children. An avid art collector, he enjoys reading and swimming.
