The Chairman of the Ministerial Implementation and Monitoring Committee for the Federal Government’s Medical Simulation Centre Project, Prof. Wale Sulaiman (CON), has led a team of technical experts on a two-day inspection visit to the University of Ilorin and the Federal University of Health Sciences, Ila-Orangun (FUHSI).
The visits, conducted between November 17 and 18, 2025, are part of the Federal Government’s drive through the Ministry of Education and TETFund to establish world-class medical simulation centres in selected universities across Nigeria.

At the University of Ilorin, Prof. Sulaiman commended the institution for its early foresight, having established one of Nigeria’s first skills laboratories and simulation centres in 2013. The delegation was received by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, who expressed appreciation to the Federal Government, the Ministry of Education, and TETFund for selecting UNILORIN as a beneficiary of the project.

Prof. Egbewole reaffirmed the university’s full readiness to host the state-of-the-art facility, noting its consistent commitment to maintaining global best practices in medical education and training. He also lauded the committee for its dedication to ensuring the project’s successful implementation.
The committee later proceeded to the Federal University of Health Sciences, Ila-Orangun (FUHSI), where they inspected ongoing developments and assessed the institution’s preparedness to house the simulation centre. The FUHSI management team, led by the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Prof. Mosuru Adebayo Adeleke, commended the Federal Government’s resolve to position the young university as one of Africa’s leading medical training centres.

Prof. Adeleke acknowledged the tremendous support of the university’s management and the tireless efforts of the Pro-Chancellor, which he said continue to drive the institution toward its founding vision. The committee toured the facilities and commended FUHSI’s remarkable progress within its few years of establishment.
