The Kano state government has imposed a dawn to dusk curfew, to avoid breakdown of law and order in the state.
Muhammad Garba, the state Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, made the announcement in a statement on Monday.
He stated that the decision was made to keep hoodlums from causing chaos in an already tense situation.
The commissioner advised residents to stay indoors because security agents would not spare anyone or any group intent on causing trouble.
