Kwara state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Saturday 12th of June, 2021 welcomed thousand of new members from the People Democratic Party (PDP) and other political parties to its fold.

Speaking with journalists at the venue of the grand reception of the new members, held at the Banquet Hall, opposite government house Ilorin, kwara state capital, Former presidential candidate, Alhaji Ganiyu H Galadima said “I am now a member of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara and Nigeria”

My reasons for decamping to APC are more than 10, but for purposes of time I will dwell on few, “the attitude of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq towards governance. His commitment is very high and his approach to governance is unrivalled in the history of the state. For the first time we have a governor that works for 24 hours. It is a good legacy. It is enough motivation to attract people to support him. That is the reason why the governor is popular in the state”

“Another reason is his commitment to infrastructural development. There is no nook and cranny of the state that the governor is not embarking on the execution of one project or the other. Or being executed or in the process of being executed. I am especially motivated by his interest to develop rural areas. The governor has been providing a focused leadership. I will advise him not to be swayed by the commendations of the people. He should still remain focused. In two years he has been able to run the race faster and better than all his predecessors in office”

Speaking on behalf of Decampees from PDP, Former ALGON chairman, Joshua Omokanye, said “All the 16 former chairmen under the auspices of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are officially decamping to APC. This also includes former councilors, supervisory councilors and vice chairmen”

“We had done it at our various wards in our local governments. We are decamping because we love APC and we love the state governor for what he has been doing since he entered the government”

“The allegation that we left PDP for APC because we were threatened with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is normal in democracy. That is petty jealousy. They know that we have left them that is why they are concocting all sort of stories. We are veteran in this job. I have been on job in the last forty years, so I know when and what time to decamp and not to decamp”

Comrade Issa Aremu “I have seen a lot of transformation under the current governor. Public schools are being invented. My school Ilorin Grammar School is far more better than the way I left it. This is a school that was abandoned. Almost 31 schools are being renovated. Labour party is proud to associate with the state governor. We are not disappointed by joining APC in 2019” he said

In his remarks, The elated Governor AbdulRahman AbduRasaq restated his commitment to good governance and grassroots development said over 400, 000 Kwarans have registered in the ongoing APC membership revalidation and registration exercise.

Welcoming the decampees, the state chairman of APC, Alh Abdullahi Samari put the number of the PDP and other parties’ members that decamped to his party at 3,500.

He said the decampees decided to join the APC because they were impressed by the outstanding performance of Governor AbdulRazaq.
