Ilorin Emirate Youths Development Association (IEYDA), a leading social cultural group has commended the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari for conferment of Grand Mufty of the city on Sheikh Sulieman Onikijipa alongside other seven traditional appointments.
Mallam Babatunde Salaudeen, President of the association gave the commendation on Thursday in Ilorin when he led the members on a courtesy visit on the emir.
Salaudeen said that the youths were in the palace to appreciate the traditional ruler for identifying some great sons of the emirate for the traditional titles.
The conferments, the president said would encourage others to work harder for the unity, development and sustainable peace in the emirate and Kwara State at large.
Onikijipa, who was appointment the 4th Mufty of the city, a Islamic legal expert, empowered to give rulings on religion matter, Sheikh Yakub Aliagan was also conferred with Sarikin Malami – Adviser on religion matter.
Others include Sheikh Abdulkadir Solagberu, Mallam Ubandoma – Person commited to the advancement of knowledge, philanthropy, religion Ideals and social economic advancement of the society, Mallam Saliu Mustapha as Turaki – Leader in the world of business and the elder brother to the Kwara governor, Dr Alimi AbdulRasaq, who was appointed Matawalle of Ilorin – Trustee of other people’s properties.
Former Secretary to the Kwara Government, Alhaji Sakariyawu Onimago was conferred with the title of Shettima – Humanitarian, former Acting Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Kawu Baraje was made Tafidan -important person, Alhaji Abolakale Kawu-Agaka, Daniyan – visionary and free spirit and Alhaji Yakubu Gobir, (Madawaki) – Head of Army
Also applauding the emir, Alhaji Uthman Jagunma, the National Publicity Secretary of the association said the newly appointed title holders were perfectly selected.
Jagunma prayed to the Almighty Allah to grant the chairman of the Kwara council of traditional chiefs good health, continued grace and renewed strength in all his endeavours.
In his reaction, Sulu-Gambari appreciated the IEYDA for promoting and projecting the image of the emirate and the state at large.
He, however, urged them never to depart and relent in their community development drive.
