Infrastructure Deficiency: KWSG Releases N76m to Kick-start NG-CARES

The Kwara State government has released the sum of N76M to the Kwara State Community and Social Development Agency for the commencement of the NG-CARES program in the state.

The State Commissioner for Finance Mrs. Oyeyemi Olasumbo Florence disclosed this while declaring open a Two-Day workshop for the Project Management Committee for Sakosi, Opakusa-Temidire, Sholu, Bode-Saadu, and Gbugbu communities, held in Ilorin the state capital.

Oyeyemi said despite the economic situation of the country, Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq was concerned about the living standard of the people of the state.

According to her, the state government is a step ahead even before the disbursement of the NG-CARES fund from the World Bank.

The Commissioner further called on benefiting communities to be accountable and justify the fund received from KWSCDA-NG CARES for the benefits of the people of their domains.

Earlier, the General Manager, KWSCDA NG-Cares, Engr. Amanat Oluwatoyin Haruna said the KWSCDA-NGCares is designed to sustainably increase access of the poor to basic social infrastructures to complement the state government’s efforts at reducing the poverty level in the state caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Haruna stated that the Agency in fulfillment of its mandate is also giving financial and technical support to interested communities and groups, that have submitted their expression of interest towards the implementation of their identified priority projects.

The General Manager also explained that there is the need to train and sensitize the community Project Management Committees and Subcommittees to ensure that the projects are sustained through rich maintenance culture.
