…Canvasses Support For APC Chairmanship Flagbearer Ahead of LG Poll

The stakeholders from the Irepodun Local Government area of Kwara State on Saturday lauded Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his “unprecedented developmental projects” in the territory.
The appreciation was expressed during the official flag-off of the campaign by the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Council election for Hon. Tinuola Azeez Yusuf and Funmilayo Abolude ticket, held at Omu-Aran, the headquarters of Irepodun.
Extolling the Governor, a member of the House of Assembly, representing Irepodun constituency, Hon. Shola Odetundun, thanked Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for developmental projects in the state and Irepodun in particular said: “We are very sure of the victory because our Governor is doing tremendously well in terms of infrastructure projects, such as Ajase to Okeya, Oko to Omu-Aran, and Oro to Arandun. These are major projects in our local government, and coupled with what Senator and House of Representatives members are doing will give us a landslide victory.”
Also lauding the governor’s impact in the area, a chieftain of the APC and former Commissioner in the state, Chief Raheem Adedoyin, said: “APC has never lost any election in Irepodun, and this is not going to be different. What I always say to people is that when you are in government, it should be easier for you to run on your record and we are going to run on the record of AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq in Irepodun.
“We are going to have victory because the governor has set the pace for us, starting from Oro, where I come from. If you talk about the road project, from Okerimi Oro to NITEL Junction, it’s all asphalt laid; he also did a fantastic renovation, rehabilitation, equipping and staffing of two major heritage institutions in Oro Kingdom; Oro Grammar school and Oro General hospital. That is just in Oro. There are, of course, the hugely significant ongoing road projects in Omuaran-Oko; Oro/Esie/Agbonds/Arandun ( N4b covering 4 wards ) and Ajasse/ Okeya/Igbaja.
“So, we are surely running on our record in the forthcoming election, and we expect that by the time we are fully in charge of the local council, our people will see more infrastructural development in the area.”
Canvassing for votes for the party candidate the Director General of the campaign team, Prof. Bashir Olaitan urged the electorates to come out en masse and vote for the party candidate in the election slated for September 21.
Olaitan, who also thanks the Governor for making APC popular in the state
through unprecedented projects similarly hailed their candidate’s political antecedent and goodwill.
“Our Party is well-positioned to win this election in a landslide manner; besides, Azeez is a grassroots politician who has been tested from being a Councilor to elected Vice-Chairman of the Council and immediate past party Chairman from Irepodun with a lot of goodwill to his name.

“Not only that, Azeez is the Chairman of Okada Rider Association in Kwara State and National Treasurer of that Association in Nigeria. He has goodwill across the eleven Wards we have in the local government area and this was manifested in the party primary when the other 12 contestants immediately congratulated him and promised to give all to his final victory at the poll.
“It is going to be a new dawn in Irepodun in terms of workers’ welfare, support to farmers, and security because our candidate was once a Teacher and also a member of the Vigilante group via Community Policing where is a treasurer in Irepodun local government and he is also a Farmer and all these make him unmatchable as a candidate and we are more than convinced that the garnered experiences will go a long way in making him perform well in office.”
Handing over the party flag to the candidate, the state chairman of APC, Prince Sunday Fagbemi urged Azeez to be magnanimous in the victory that made him a candidate and urged the party members to rally around the candidate, adding that “It is only God that chooses a leader and there is time for everyone, I urged you all to accept that this is Azeez time and we should rally round him and ensure APC maintain 100% victory in Irepodun.
“We must also remember that our contribution at various Ward and polling units will go a long way in determining what we will all get as compensation from the party and his administration and therefore my appeal to everyone is to keep supporting the party by voting for our Chairman and all the Councilors across the Wards.”
Expressing appreciation and his plan for the people of Irepodun, Hon. Azeez said: “Everything is by the grace of God, from being a Councilor to elected Vice-Chairman and Party Chairman before Almighty God and my people made me a candidate. I promise to run an all-inclusive government and bring meaningful dividends of democracy to my people.”
The event was well attended by the party stakeholders and officeholders from the local government area and beyond.
