The Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Engr Yakubu Danladi-Salihu has stressed the need for members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) to be focused, industrious and self reliant.
Engr Danladi-Salihu, gave the charge while addressing members of the NYSC 2022 batch A stream I at the orientation camp, Yikpata in Edu Local Government Area of the State during a courtesy visit.
He charged the corps members to maximize the opportunity of vocational training in the camp to be self-reliant, make friends and keep contacts, and have a positive mind to go and make a difference in society.
“I am happy to be here this afternoon, this is my first constituency ‘the youth constituency’. I am also satisfied with the reception given to us and the ways and manners you have all conducted yourself, it is a sign that the state coordinator is doing a wonderful job. I want to advise you to pay attention to all the training you’re being given here, especially the entrepreneurial training that would make you self-reliant and not white-collar job seekers, be focused, determined, disciplined and exercise self-restraint as well as be security conscious”
“Kwara as you all know is a state of harmony, it is one of the most peaceful states in the country today, all thanks to the wonderful and laudable strides of our amiable governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq who has refused to slow down his good works, especially in the areas of education, security, economy, health, and other infrastructures, unlike any other state, the present administration boasts of 75 percent youths and women inclusion in government”
“So be rest assured of your peaceful stay in the state, especially if you are posted Baruten, Patigi, or Kaiama where there are a lot of opportunities for you to tap from to develop and empower yourself. Feel free, to make good friends and keep contacts, you never can tell what that friendship would fetch you in the future. I want to advise you to take your posting in good faith and while at your various places of primary assignment, don’t embark on an unauthorized trip, be security conscious and let your colleagues be aware of your movements”
Engr. Danladi-Salihu while closing his remarks, appreciated the NYSC state Coordinator and other management staff for what he described as a job well done and donated cash and foodstuff to support the corps members in the camp.
Earlier in an address of welcome, NYSC State Coordinator, Mrs. Francisca Olaleye thanked the Speaker for the august visit, asking him to express the scheme’s appreciation to His Excellency Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his support at all times which ensured that the Kwara NYSC camp remains the best in all the thirty-six state and FCT.
On the entourage of the Rt. Hon. Speaker who also donated to support the NYSC are the member representing Omupo state constituency, Hon AGF Salau, Chairman, Assembly Service Commission, Hon Femi Yusuf, Baruten TIC chairman, Hon Abdulrasheed Lafia, and other government functionaries.
