…. As TAU Commissioned Lecture Theatre To Honour Legal Luminary

The Proprietor of Thomas Adewumi University, Oko-Irese in Irepodun local government area of Kwara State, Engr. Dr. Johson Adewumi has applauded lawyer Yusuf Ola-Olu Ali, SAN for being a worthy mentor for the younger generation.

Speaking at the commissioning of a lecture theatre named in honour of the legal luminary, Engr. Adewumi said the management of the University found lawyer Yusuf Ali worthy of emulation for the younger generation.

“We are looking forward to a worthy mentor for our younger generation and we saw in him a Nigerian that is doing so much for our society. He is a philanthropist of the highest ranking. He gives to society in different forms.

“I think he also find us as a worthy partner because he can easily related to our sincerity of heart at Thomas Adewumi University. Its not because he has given us any money that made us name a big structure like this in his honour, but we want a younger generation to emulate someone like him. Knowing that this nation can only be built by ourselves.”

Also speaking the Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Professor Francisca O. Oladipo said the twin lecture theatre was named after the legal luminary to inspire the institution’s undergraduates particularly the law students to attain greater heights like him.

“Each time our students walk pass and see that name, they remember him, they want to be like him, it would inspire them to want to think like him especially, the Law students. they want to attain what he has been able to attain.

“And it also means sustainability, we constructed everything ourselves using the laterite blocks, the ones they called mud blocks use by our father’s in those days and everything was done not by a contractors even the metal work, for the roofing we used wood. There used to be a very big tree there, that place used to be a wast dump so it also means waste to wealth”, she said.

In his reaction, the honouree who is also a Professor of Law Practice, expressed delight and appreciation to the management of the institution for finding him worthy of the honour without any financial implication exception for his disposition and contributions to the education development.

“There is no substitute for Education and is easier to lead knowledgeable people than ignorant people. When people are ignorant there is no light that is flown that won’t work but when people are educated is difficult for them to be cheated and is also difficult for them to be lead by the nose. So is in the interest of government to ensure that they pay maximum attention to the issue of education, especially the funding.

“But having said that, education has gone beyond government funding education, we need other interventions from corporate bodies, wealthy individuals, other citizens and other people can intervene. So it’s mixed grilled”, he said
