Olomu of Omupo in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State ,Oba (Alhaji) Mohammed Yaqub Adebayo Buhari has commended Babatunde Adekeye Foundation (BAF) over donation of relevant text books worth thousands of naira to the libraries of Omupo Muslim College and Omupo Anglican Grammar School respectively .
The traditional ruler who officially presented the items to the management of the schools on behalf of the donor in his palace also expressed appreciation to the NGO for the distribution of note books to all students in St Michael Primary School, Omupo Community Primary School and in the two secondary schools in Omupo
Oba Yakub who noted that Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s administration recognised the contribution of education as nation builders and key behind successful development in the state.
The Cheif Executive Officer of the foundation, Mr Babatunde Adekeye implored the teachers not to relent in their efforts to educate the society as power of mental development resides in their profession.
The Cheif Consultant, BAF, Mr Adebowale Adekeye who stood in for the Cheif Executive Officer explained that, the foundation is committed to restore the lost glory of education in the society ,and to also give a better future to Omupo .
Babatunde Adekeye who also commended the teachers for their efforts in ensuring that quality education is provided for the children despite the numerous challenges facing by the education, charged teachers to continue to give their best in discharging their professional responsibilities to deliver quality service.
He appealed to the managements of the school to ensure that the materials are used judiciously.
Adekeye also commended Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for efforts of his administration to reposition the public schools for good.
He however appealed to the Kwara State Government to continue look into issues affecting teachers in the state with a view to proffering solution and restoring the lost glory of education in the state.
In his own remarks, the Chairman, Omupo Education Committee, Professor Raphael Bamidele Olarinoye commended Babatunde Adekeye Foundation for promoting teaching and learning in the area.
Olarinoye informed that Omupo is blessed with industrious children that have been supporting the community for development.
In his goodwill message at the event, a Veteran Journalist, Tajudeen Adigun who emphasised the importance of entrepreneurship education to the growth of Omupo, charged the students on acquiring modern skills.
Other students that benefited from the supports were students from St Michael Primary School and Omupo Community Primary School.
The event was well attended by parents, clerics, staff and students of the schools among other stakeholders from Omupo community.
