NUJ tasks new Kwara Communications Commissioner on Priority

The Kwara State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has urged the new Commissioner for Communications in the state, Mrs Abosede Olaitan, to align her priority with the state government’s policy in the management of information sector in the state.


The union said as information manager, the job of the new Commissioner was well cut out for her and should leverage on the available opportunities to ensure seamless dissemination of information about the activities of the present admiration.
This was contained in a congratulatory message issued by the Chairman and Secretary of Kwara State Council of NUJ, Abdullateef ‘Lanre Ahmed and Omotayo Ayanda respectively.

The union also implored the Commissioner to use her wealth of experience as a senior civil servant and educator to develop a mechanism for unhindered access to information from time to time to stave off unwarranted insinuation and speculation.
The NUJ also appealed to the Commissioner to set the ball rolling and embark on tour of the state owned media houses including Radio Kwara, The Herald Newspapers and Kwara State Television Authority for firsthand information and promptly attend to their needs.

The union expressed its readiness to work in synergy with the new Communications’ Commissioner for effective information dissemination in the state.


“On behalf of members of the Kwara State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), we congratulate you on your appointment and assignment as Commissioner for Communications. The decision of His Excellency, the Governor, to assign you to this very sensitive office is a validation of the confidence he reposed in you”


“In this new assignment, we urge you to align your priority with the policy of the state government in the management of the state information sector. You would need to bring to bear your wealth of experience as a senior civil servant and educator”
