All passengers kidnapped on January 7 at the Chief Tom Ikimi Railway Station Ekekhen in Igueben, Edo State, along the Warri Itakpe rail corridor, have been released and reunited with family.

Mahmud Yakub, Deputy Director, Public Relations, Nigeria Railway Corporation, said in a statement on Thursday that it was heartwarming that no one was hurt or injured.

He praised the victims’ families for their patience and cooperation, and he thanked security agencies and the State Government for their contributions to the release of the captives.

According to the statement, “NRC Management urged communities living along railway corridors to be security conscious by reporting any suspicious movement that could lead to a breach of peace.”
